Starbucks Can Make Your Immune System Stronger?

October 2nd, 2017

While Starbucks is a huge name the world knows today, the products it serves are not necessarily known to make your body healthier. However, they recently released a new latte made with turmeric. You may think, “OK, what does that have to do anything?” Well, turmeric has more scientific data behind it proving that it is a strong anti-inflammatory and antioxidant, both of which improve your overall health. Although the amount of turmeric in the new latte isn’t very much, a prolonged exposure to turmeric could help increase your body’s anti-inflammatory and antioxidant levels.

Turmeric is a plant in the ginger family found in Southeast Asia, where countries such as China and India grow and use this plant for healing concoctions. However, it’s what’s inside turmeric that contributes to its healing properties: curcumin. Although curcumin is the active ingredient, there is usually a very small amount of curcumin in turmeric. In order to receive benefits from this spice, you would need to ingest an extract which contains more concentrated amounts of these ingredients.

Without inflammation in your body, viruses and bacteria could infiltrate your body’s immune system and kill it. Inflammation in the body is a very complex process that allows our bodies to fight off the harmful bacteria that want to harm us. When you ingest turmeric and curcumin, you give your body’s inflammatory process a boost to help it fight those bad germs. Some scientific studies show that large amounts of turmeric/curcumin consumption even lead to improved inflammatory processes.

Stress is when toxic byproducts of oxygen metabolize and cause significant damage to living cells and tissues in your body. Your body produces antioxidants which prohibit the continuation of this oxidative stress. When you consume turmeric and curcumin, you enable your body to stimulate an increase in antioxidants, which prevents more harm to your body’s tissues and cells, keeping you young and healthy.
