Are you running on empty this holiday season?
The holidays bring many people together for some overdue joy, delicious food, and reconnection. With the increase in all of the get-togethers and other events around the holidays, you may notice that you feel more run down and ready to throw in the towel, even in the middle of the day. The holidays definitely require an energy boost from time to time! No one wants to feel so exhausted or even ill that they can’t enjoy the fun around them. If you’re ready to enjoy the holidays like they’re meant to be enjoyed, we’ve put together some ideas to help you increase your stamina and potential cheer.
While this may seem obvious, many of us forget that sleep is what allows us to recharge our over-exerted bodies and minds. It can be difficult at times to get to bed at your normal time, but we should make an extra effort to make sure we aren’t depriving ourselves of the source that keeps our body’s immune system from tiring. Studies have shown that our bodies are at a higher risk of being exposed to more bacteria and viruses which is caused by the immune system being weakened from lack of sleep. Although finding time throughout your day to take a midday nap is challenging, a short siesta can have you feeling like new and ready to take on more of the day. Supposing you aren’t able to do either, there are products such as 5 Hour Energy that allow your body to absorb nutrients that give you a small boost throughout the day. It is recommended to use these types of products sparingly to keep your body from becoming dependent on ingested energy.
EAT SMART CARBS
This one sounds super hard, doesn’t it? Who wants to eat this type of stuff around the holidays with all of the sweets and goodies that are so readily available? Even though it sounds hard, it’s super easy. All you need to snack on are fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and whole grains during the day. Or, if you’re craving something a little more sweet yet want to stay peppy, try some Nugo Nutrition NuGo Smarte Carb Bars. Rather than needing to take a pre-meal nap, you’ll be able to make it through the end of the meal and possibly maintain a little stamina to make it through the rest of the day without any slumber.
DRINK WATER
It should go without saying that drinking water allows our bodies to run smoother and better throughout the day, but with all of the egg nog and miscellaneous spirits we have access to during the holidays, it can be difficult to remember that we still need to drink that good old H2O. The more dehydrated your body is, the more run down you feel. Your body decreases blood circulation because of less water in your system which causes that lethargic feeling. Just keep in mind that you need water to thrive, not just survive.
