Moisturize with Argan Oil

August 17th, 2012

Argan oil acts as a moisturizer for your hair and your skin. I first heard about argan oil as I was looking through a beauty supply store for something to help reduce fly away hairs. Their employee directed me to Argan Oil because it would replenish the natural oils of my hair, which reduce dry frizzy hair and split ends from forming. So I went for it! A little bit goes a long way.  A small bottle ends up lasting a whole lot longer than any of my other hair products. I end up just working a little bit into my hair after blow drying it.  If any of you are struggling with frizzy hair as much as I am, I would suggest also using shampoo and conditioner that are targeted at reducing fly-aways and treating split ends.

I know a lot of people that use Argan oil on a daily basis to bring the shine and bounce back to their dyed hair. Dying your hair, particularly bleaching, does significant damage to your hair, but by replenishing the vitamin E and natural antioxidants, argan oil can help minimize that damage. If you are looking for the deeper moisturizing I suggest working it through your hair before showering; making sure you treat the scalp and the tips. Maybe even wrap your hair in a warm cloth while you let the oil sit in your hair before washing.

Argan oil also acts as a skin treatment. Considering it is rich in vitamin E and fatty acids, it is meant to leave your skin moisturized and counteract the aging effects. It can be used as a deep conditioning treatment if you would like to apply a generous amount to your skin and allow it to be absorbed overnight. Personally I apply it to my skin whenever I use it on my hair so it turns into a daily routine. Let me know your thoughts on Argan Oil!
